vomeronasal-terminal nerve complex ( vtnc )
The term vomeronasal-terminal nerve complex (vtnc) refers to neural connections of accessory olfactory sensory neurons (OSNa's) in the vomeronasal organ (VNO) to the accessory olfactory bulb (AOB). It has two components, the vomeronasal nerve (vmn) and the terminal nerve (trm), which are highly intertwined through part of their course ( Wirsig-Wiechmann-2001 ). The accessory olfactory system (OSY) is found in rodents but not in primates ( Zhang-2003 ). For more on species differences and function, see olfactory system (OSY). Final 18 Jan 2025.
