basal ganglia of Carpenter
The term basal ganglia of Carpenter refers to an alternate definition of basal ganglia based on proximity. It consists of the striatum, the globus pallidus and the amygdala ( Carpenter-1983 ). A discussion of semantic differences in use of the term 'basal ganglia' is presented in Anthoney-1994.
