area 22 of Brodmann (human) ( 22 )

The term area 22 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined temporal region of cerebral cortex. In the human it corresponds approximately to the lateral and caudal two thirds of the superior temporal gyrus. It is bounded rostrally by the area 38 of Brodmann (human), medially by the area 42 of Brodmann (human), ventrocaudally by the area 21 of Brodmann (human) and dorsocaudally by the area 40 of Brodmann (human) and the area 39 of Brodmann ( Brodmann-1909 ).
