The term area 6 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined precentral region of cerebral cortex. In the human it is located primarily in the caudal portions of the superior frontal gyrus and the middle frontal gyrus and the rostral portions of the precentral gyrus not occupied by the area 4 of Brodmann (human). It extends from the cingulate sulcus on the medial aspect of the hemisphere to the lateral fissure on the lateral aspect.
