paracingulate sulcus ( pcgs )

The term paracingulate sulcus refers to a cleft on the medial aspect of the superior frontal gyrus (SFG) that appears in approximately 35% of humans. Identified by dissection, it parallels the anterior part of the cingulate sulcus (cgs). Like the cgs, it may be continuous or interrupted. Forming the outer boundary of the external cingulate gyrus ( Vogt-2012 ). It is not found in the macaque ( Martin-2000 ) nor in the smooth cortex of the rat and mouse ( NeuroNames ).
