The term area 21 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined temporal region of cerebral cortex. In the human it corresponds approximately to the middle temporal gyrus. It is bounded rostrally by the area 38 of Brodmann (human), ventrally by the area 20 of Brodmann (human), caudally by the area 37 of Brodmann (human), and dorsally by the area 22 of Brodmann (human) ( Brodmann-1909 ).
