parietal region

The term parietal region refers to a cytoarchitecturally defined portion of the cerebral cortex. It occupies most of the parietal lobe caudal to the postcentral gyrus. It is bounded approximately by the postcentral sulcus, the splenial sulcus and the parieto-occipital sulcus. It is composed of the area 5 of Brodmann (human), the area 7 of Brodmann (human), the area 40 of Brodmann (human) and the area 39 of Brodmann ( Brodmann-1909 ).
