area 11 (macaque) ( 11 )
The term area 11 (macaque) refers to a part of the orbital gyri that is defined on the basis of internal structure in the macaque. It is one of two components of the rostral orbital cortex in the orbital prefrontal cortex. The other is area 10 (macaque). It has two subdivisions: area 11m (macaque) and area 11l (macaque) ( Carmichael-1994 ).
Its human equivalent is area 11 ( Ongur-2003 ). For approximately equivalent areas in the rat and mouse see orbital areas (rodent).
