ventral periolivary nucleus
The term ventral periolivary nucleus refers to one of four cell groups identified by Nissl stain in the periolivary region of the superior olivary complex of the human ( Amunts-2012 ). The others are the dorsomedial periolivary nucleus, the medial periolivary nucleus, and the rostral periolivary region. Functionally it is part of the subcortical auditory system ( Swanson-2004 ).
