The term area 11m refers to the more medial of two components of area 11 in the human. Defined on the basis of multiple stains, it occupies the medial one-third of the center of the orbital gyri. It is bounded rostrally by area 10p; caudally, from lateral to medial, by area 13m, area 13b, and area 14r; laterally by the other component of area 11, area 11l; and medially by area 10r. As granular prefrontal cortex, it has no equivalent in the rat ( Wallis-2012 ).
