ventral layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus ( vLGB )

The term ventral layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus refers to one of two parts of the lateral geniculate nucleus in the human. It includes layers 1 and 2 , which are composed of large cells (magnocellular laminae). The other part consists of the dorsal layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus; they include layers 3 - 6, which are composed of small cells (parvicellular laminae) ( Carpenter-1983 ).
