area PGp ( PGp )
The term area PGp refers to a cortical structure located in inferior parietal cortex a region that is much expanded in humans relative to macaques and chimpanzees. It is bounded posteriorly and inferiorly by the MT+ complex and MT+ neighbors. Defined by multiple criteria, it is fMRI activated in PLACE, SOCIAL, and MOTOR CUE tasks and deactivated in a FACE task. Other authors have referred to the same topological area as PG or 39 ( Glasser-2016 ).
