reticulotegmental nucleus ( RtTg )
The term reticulotegmental nucleus refers to a group of cells at the ventral extreme of the pontine tegmentum adjacent to the basal pons. It is found in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ), the macaque ( Martin-2000 ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Hof-2000 ). In the human it is subdivided into three parts: the medial tegmental process, the lateral tegmental process and the supralemniscal process ( Crosby-1962 ). Functionally it belongs to the postcerebellar and precerebellar nuclei of the behavior control column ( Swanson-2004 ).
