laterodorsal tegmental nucleus ( LdTg )
The term laterodorsal tegmental nucleus refers to a group of nerve cells in the dorsal midbrain tegmentum and the pontine central gray of the pontine tegmentum at the junction of the midbrain and the pons. It is found in the human ( Crosby-1962 ), the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Franklin-2008 ). It is the only nucleus embedded in the pontine central gray that is functionally part of the behavioral state system; the others belong to the subcortical motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
