gustatory nucleus
The term gustatory nucleus refers to the enlarged rostral portion of the solitary nucleus, which receives taste afferents from the glossopharyngeal nerve and the intermediate nerve in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ) and the macaque ( Pritchard-2012 ). It is part of the functionally defined medullary gustatory area in primates.
