solitary nucleus (Swanson)
The term solitary nucleus (Swanson) refers to the portions of the solitary nucleus involved in viscerosensory functions. It includes all of the solitary nucleus except the medullary gustatory area, which is involved in taste perception ( Swanson-2004).
