BrainInfo consists of three basic components:

NeuroNames, a database of names, acronyms and definitions of:

Standard English names and acronyms for more than 3000 neuroanatomic structures

Synonyms: more than 21K. In eight languages: English, Latin, Deutsch, Español, Français, Bahasa Indonesia, Italiano, Русский

A large number of neuroanatomical models of sensorimotor and loop pathways that mediate physiological and psychological control of behavior in primates and rodents

Four species: human, macaque, rat and mouse

NeuroMaps, a digital brain atlas system:

3-D canonical stereotaxic atlases of rhesus macaque and mouse brains

Programs that enable one to map data to standard surface and cross-sectional views of the brains for presentation and publication.

Users of BrainInfo are encouraged to use NeuroNames as a stable, internationally recognized source of standard English terms and acronyms for structural and functional models of neuroanatomical information.
