parasympathetic preganglionic pools
The term parasympathetic preganglionic pools refers to one of two sets of clusters of neurons grouped on the basis of function in preganglionic autonomic pools of the subcortical motor system. It includes the parvocellular oculomotor nucleus, the superior salivatory nucleus, the inferior salivatory nucleus, the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus nerve, the ventral division of the ambiguous nucleus, and the sacral autonomic nuclei. The other set consists of the sympathetic preganglionic pools ( Swanson-2004 ).
