posterior parahippocampal cortex ( PHCp )

The term posterior parahippocampal cortex refers to a functionally defined structure located in the posterior parahippocampal gyrus and fusiform gyrus of the human ( Glasser-2016 ) and the macaque ( Kravitz-2011a ). It is composed of three subdivisions: the medial posterior parahippocampal cortex (PHCpm), the intermediate posterior parahippocampal cortex (PHCil) and the lateral posterior parahippocampal cortex (PHCpl). The rat ( Paxinos-2009b ) and mouse ( Franklin-2008 ) have an equivalent structure referred to as caudomedial entorhinal cortex or postrhinal cortex ( Squire-2004 ). Updated 30 May 2024.
