The term descending branches of the dorsal root fibers refers to fibers in the posterior white column of the spinal cord. They make up the semilunar tract in the cervical segments and thoracic segments, the septomarginal tract in the lumbar segments and the tract of Phillippe-Gombault in the sacral segments ( Carpenter-1983 ).
